A LECTURE ABOUT STUDIES AND BREXIT
By Peter Rassa
This course 2018-19, the students of Batxillerat in Maristes Girona are taking part in different projects in English. We are improving our speaking with a really good assistant from Philadelphia: Ana Monastero, and what’s more, we have different activities in English such as lectures or some specific cultural lessons. All of them have the goal to let us to achieve our Cambridge certificates in Advanced level, or indeed, to continue our studies in some English speaking countries.
Last Thursday, the 29th November, all of us could attend in Maristes Theatre a lecture about England and the Brexit. The lecturer Peter Rassa, who also teaches in I.Q.S., in Barcelona, introduced us to the English lifestyle and education system. We learned a lot about British culture, and imagining how our studies abroad would be was really interesting.
He also talked about the Brexit and its consequences from different points of view, and it helped us to clarify some political aspects that are affecting all of us. The last part of the lecture let us to interact with him and debate different subjects: Erasmus after the Brexit, Scotland and Catalan issues, or the way to apply to a university in the U.K.
Everyone had a really good time and learned something new. We are looking forward to discussing with Mr.Rassa again in Girona or maybe before going to England or Ireland if we took part of the new English-summer project next July.
